Max Rad has returned with his addictive brand of pop music in the shape of new single ‘Blud Sugar’. He creates atmospheric beats that are fused effortlessly with groovy basses and wah-ing synth sounds; the perfect bed for his smooth, recognisable lead vocal. His alt-pop sound is complemented by a trippy, colourful video that places Max on the beach. “‘Blud Sugar’ is about craving something that you miss, something that you know is bad for you but feeling the need for it all the same,” he says. “I wrote this in the height of the UK’s Lockdowns, the pine for normality, losing yourself in crowds of people and wanting freedom back was at a fever pitch.” The London-based artist has a new album due for release in 2022. -Dan Peeke
